Computer Animation On Local TV: Ober Da Bakod Goes Hi-Tech
The Philippine Star, August 1, 1995

brownie.jpg - 15.68 K Two weeks ago, GMA's Ober da Bakod amazed local viewers with a high-tech episode that featured special effects for the first time on local TV. Tonight, the sitcom goes overboard on 3-D special effects as it features as a special guest: a computer-generated character called "Bakal Boy" (Chrome Man). Thus, this episode features the very first interactive character animation ever seen on Philippine TV.

For the first time on the local screen, viewers will see a computer generated character interacting with live characters of the show. Storm Visualization & Imaging, the special effects team behind the episode, made a very realistic sala.jpg - 17.66 K rendition of the chrome man, similar to the metallic character in the movie The Terminator. As a special guest, the chrome man acts as Don Robert's (Leo Martinez) bodyguard and at the same time becomes Kasuy (Manilyn Reynes) and Honey Grace's (Gelli de Belen) friend.
